Location

Suure-Jaani Municipality is located in the north-eastern and the northern part of the County of Viljandi. It is 25 km from the centre of the Municipality Government to the County centre Viljandi, and less than 7 km from the border of the municipality. East to west the municipality stretches 47 km, while north to south 28.5 km.

Administratively, Suure-Jaani municipality is surrounded by the municipalities of Kõpu, Pärsti, Saarepeedi, Kolga-Jaani and Kõo, and the town of Võhma of Viljandi County, by the municipalities of Vändra and Tori  of the Pärnu County, and by Türi municipality of Järva County.

The most important roads are: Imavere - Viljandi – Karksi-Nuia and Mudiste - Suure-Jaani - Vändra.
